1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the website remember information about your visit — such as whether you are logged in or have accepted certain settings. Some cookies are essential for the website to work; others are optional.
2. How We Use Cookies
BAMJOY uses a minimal set of cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, behavioural tracking cookies, or third-party analytics cookies that profile you across other websites. Our cookies are used only to:
- Keep you logged in to your account
- Remember your subscription tier so the correct features are available to you
- Remember your cookie consent choice so we do not ask you every time
3. Types of Cookies We Use
| Type | Description | Can be declined? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Essential for the platform to function. Without these cookies, you cannot log in or use the service. | No — required for service |
| Functional | Remember your preferences and settings (e.g. subscription tier, consent choice). | No — needed for personalisation |
| Analytics | We do not currently use analytics cookies that track behaviour across sessions or sites. | N/A — not used |
| Advertising | We do not use any advertising or targeting cookies. BAMJOY is completely ad-free. | N/A — not used |
4. Specific Cookies Used
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
firebase:authUser | Stores your authentication session so you remain logged in | Session / 30 days | Google Firebase (first-party) |
bamjoy_tier | Remembers your subscription tier to display the correct features | 30 days | BAMJOY (first-party) |
bamjoy_consent | Records your cookie consent choice | 1 year | BAMJOY (first-party) |
5. Third-Party Cookies
BAMJOY does not embed third-party advertising or social media widgets that set their own cookies. Our only third-party integration that may set cookies is Google Firebase, which provides our authentication and database services. Firebase cookies are strictly functional and do not track you across other websites.
Stripe, our payment processor, may set cookies during the payment flow. Stripe's cookie use is governed by its own Privacy Policy.
6. How to Manage Cookies
6.1 Cookie Consent Settings
You can review and update your cookie preferences at any time by visiting our Cookie Settings page. Since we only use essential and functional cookies, declining optional cookies will not significantly affect your experience.
6.2 Browser Settings
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. The following table shows how to access cookie settings in the most common browsers:
| Browser | How to manage cookies |
|---|---|
| Chrome | Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data |
| Firefox | Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data |
| Safari | Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data |
| Edge | Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data |
| iOS Safari | Settings → Safari → Privacy & Security → Block All Cookies |
| Android Chrome | Chrome menu → Settings → Site settings → Cookies |
Please be aware that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from logging in to BAMJOY. If you clear cookies, you will need to log in again and re-accept your cookie consent preference.
7. Essential vs Non-Essential Cookies
Under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we are required to obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies. Since all cookies used by BAMJOY are either strictly necessary or functional (required to deliver the service you have requested), we rely on the service provision basis for these cookies and do not require separate opt-in consent for each.
We will obtain your explicit consent if we introduce any non-essential cookies (such as analytics or advertising cookies) in the future.
8. Cookie Consent
When you first visit BAMJOY, you will be shown a cookie consent notice. You can accept or manage your preferences. Your choice is stored in the bamjoy_consent cookie for one year.
You can change your consent at any time by visiting Cookie Settings.
9. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We will update this Cookie Policy if we change the cookies we use. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Where we introduce non-essential cookies for the first time, we will seek your explicit consent before placing them.
